Sonia cried on hearing about Batla encounter: Salman Khurshid

Azamgarh: Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid is at it again. During a rally speech at Azamgarh, the Congress minister raised up the controversial issue of Batla House encounter and said that Sonia Gandhi had tears in her eyes when she heard about it.
"When Sonia Gandhi saw pictures of the Batla House encounter, she had tears in her eyes and she ordered a thorough probe," he is heard telling the crowds.
Khurshid has been in the news for all the wrong reasons of late. The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday censured him for his remarks on sub-quota for minorities. The Election Commission said it expected Khurshid not to repeat such violations of the model code in future.

Batla House encounter took place on September 19, 2008, in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, in which two Muslim men hailing from Azamgarh were killed, while two others, Mohd Saif and Zeeshan, were arrested.
In Muslim-dominated areas of UP like Raebareli, Muradabad and Rampur, where the Samajwadi Party has a hold, the Congress' wooing of Muslims is being looked at closely.
Using the Batla House encounter theory in the midst of a high pitched election campaign can be a master stroke for the congress. But it also has the potential of once again opening the faulty lines in a party which has already seen a lot of infighting.
